The downpour resulted in waterlogging at many parts of the city, disrupting road traffic and causing chaos on arterial roads during peak hours. Three flights
too were delayed by an hour because of the blinding rain. However, rail services remained unaffected.

Road traffic went out of gear at various places like Gemini flyover, Anna Salai, ChennaiCentral, Egmore and Whites Road. The police had a tough time managing the flow of vehicles. Office goers and students had to wade through ankle-deep water to reach their bus stops. Vehicles had to wait at least for 30 minutes at different junctions and traffic signals because of the pile up.
