All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Entrance Examinations(AIEEE) is an entrance examination for admission in engineering/architecture bachelor courses throughout most of the engineering/architecture institutes across the country. Admission in all the National Institute of Technology(NITs) as well as most of the state level institutes and private institutes happens through AIEEE. Therefore AIEEE is the most popular engineering Entrance examination for BE/BTech aspiring students across the country. Last time nearly 9 lakh students appeared for AIEEE.

AIEEE is considered to be highly competitive exam for those aspiring to get admission in NITs or other top colleges. Therefore students start preparing for it much before the actual entrance examination. AIEEE is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) therefore the syllabus of AIEEE is from CBSE class 11th and 12th syllabus.

How competitive is AIEEE?
AIEEE-2007 exam statistics says that 6, 41,276 students registered for exam out of which 5, 99,096 students appeared and approximately, 13653 finally got seats in the AIEEE institutes. So out of every thousand students who appeared, 23 got seats!

At first schedule of AIEEE 2009 exams:
AIEEE 2009 notification is not yet out and the same is expected to come out in the 3rd week/last week of November. However based on the schedule of AIEEE 2008 & AIEEE 2007 exams, the important exam/application form dates of AIEEE 2009 can be found out.

Exam dates of AIEEE 2009:
AIEEE is held every year on the last Sunday of April. AIEEE 2008 was held on 27.04.2008 (Sunday) & AIEEE 2007 on 29.04.2007 (Sunday). So exam date of AIEEE 2009 should be 26.04.2009 (Sunday).
Similarly can you guess the exam date of AIEEE 2010 & AIEEE 2011? Well, exam date of AIEEE 2010 & AIEEE 2011 based on above analysis should be 25.04.2010 & 24.04.2010 respectively.

Application Procedure of AIEEE 2010
The Application form and Information Prospectus of AIEEE can by Obtained by cash payment from identified branches of Syndicate Banks all over India
The Application from can also be downloaded from the AIEEE website and submit The Complete Fill-up application from along with DD dawn in favour of the Secretary, CBSE, payable at Delhi.

AIEEE 2010 tentative important dates
April 25th, 2010 in the Date of Examination.
December first week 2009-January first week, 2010 is the Date of availability of forms.
Mid December, 2009 is the Last date for receipt of request for form.
January second week, 2010 is the Last date for receipt of completed application form.
First week of June, 2010 is the Declaration of results.

AIEEE application forms (both online as well as offline) are issued starting with the last Friday of November or first Friday of December, whichever is closer to 30th November. While AIEEE 2008 forms (both online as well as offline) was issued starting from 30.11.2007 (Friday), AIEEE 2007 forms were issued from 01.12.2006 (Friday). Therefore form availability dates of AIEEE 2009 too should start from 28.11.2008 (Friday). Similar form availability dates of AIEEE 2010 & AIEEE 2011 can be found as 27.11.2009 and 26.11.2010.

Last date of submission of forms for AIEEE 2008 as well AIEEE 2007 was 5th January. So for AIEEE 2009, last date of submission of forms should also be 5th January, 2009.

Application Forms Availability for AIEEE 2010

Application forms for AIEEE 2010 are expected to be available in first week of December till first week of January in designated branches of Syndicate bank, CBSE Regional Offices and certain institutions. Form can also be requested by sending a demand draft to AIEEE Unit, CBSE. A notification is issued in all leading national dailies for the availability of forms. Candidates can also apply online, fill the information and send the printout to AIEEE office.

Eligibility Criteria for AIEEE Exam:

For admission through AIEEE a candidate needs to pass in Class 12th. A candidate can only appear for AIEEE 2010 if he/she has passed/appearing class 12th in either 2008,2009 or 2010. Those who want to appear for BE/BTech entrance should compulsory have Physics and Mathematics in class 12th and atleast one of the subjects among Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Biology. Those appearing for architecture courses should have Mathematics in class 12th with atleast 50% marks aggregate. Besides a candidate’s date of birth should be on or after 1st October, 1985.

Pattern of examination:

BE/BTech: Entrance examination is of 3 hours having objective questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal weightage from each subject. Each question will have four options. There is a negative marking of 1/4th marks also for incorrect answers.

B.Arch/B.Planning: Entrance examination will be of 3 hours having three parts:Mathematics, Aptitude test and Drawing test. While Mathematics and Aptitude test will have objective questions, drawing test will have questions to check the drawing aptitude of a student.
