The 6th LG ICC Awards 2009 Ceremony took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

The ICC Cricketer of the year award was won by Mitchell Johnson. MS Dhoni won the ICC ODI Player of the year, whereas Gautam Gambhir was declared the ICC test player of the year.

MS Dhoni, Virendra Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh have been selected in the ICC ODI team of the year 2009.

Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have found a place in the ICC Test team of the year 2009. MS Dhoni has also been declared as Captain of the ICC Test World XI.

Emerging Player Award for year 2009 was won by Australia’s Peter Siddle and New Zealand Won the ICC Spirit of Cricket award for 2009.

Sri Lanka’s Tilakaratne Dilshan won the Twenty20 International Performer award of the year.

William Porterfield won the Associate and Affiliate Player of the year award.

Pakistan’s Aleem Dar, won the Umpire of the year award.

The women’s cricketer of the year award was bagged by Claire Taylor.

The awards were based on the performance of the team and its players for the period of 12 months between August 2008 and August 2009.

Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg (2007) and Dubai (2008).
